Profile of Kari

Kari Lancaster’s research focuses on the critical social study of evidence-making practices and intervention translations in health, especially in relation to drugs, epidemics, and infectious disease. Working in and around the undisciplined field of Science and Technology Studies (STS), she is interested in the relations between science, policy, evidence and intervention amidst transformative global changes affecting health, with a focus on outbreak and viral elimination. Kari has a background in performance studies and English literature, law, and policy studies.

Kari currently serves as Professor in Social Studies of Science and Health, in the Department of Social and Policy Sciences at the University of Bath, and as an Honorary Burnet Institute Senior Principal Fellow in Melbourne, Australia. She is an Editor of Science, Technology & Human Values.
